Football fans I don’t know about you but this was the best opening game I’ve seen in a long time. Most opening games usually pit a good team versus a cream-puff. Those games in my opinion are boring.
Virginia Tech didn’t show up to play in the first quarter, it was all Boise State. By the end of the first Boise lead 17 to 0. In the second the Hokies actually decided they wanted to play football and scored two touchdowns, making it 17 to 14.
I’ll have to hand it to VT they played a good ballgame during the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Boise, not so much. By the fourth Boise was trailing by one 26 to 27.
In the end Boise scored a touchdown with just over a minute left in the ballgame. Making it 33 to 30. The final play, Virginia tossed a long ball that was almost caught by their wide receiver. If he caught that ball the game might have ended differently.
It wasn’t the cleanest game, both sides made some critical errors, and racked up penalties. Boise had eleven for a whopping 105 yards, while VT committed seven for 55.
If Virginia had actually showed up in the first quarter Boise might have lost.
It was a great start to the season, the one minor quibble I had was calling Fed-ex field a “neutral location.”
BULL CRAP. VT fans only had to drive a couple hundred miles to get to the game, Boise fans had to travel over 2000! The stadium was nearly full of Hokie fans. They outnumbered the Boise fans by at least 10 to 1.
