North and South Vietnam? What the…?

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D) TX apparently needs to look at a map, and maybe read some history.

“I stand here asking us to do what we did not in do in Vietnam, was to recognize the valiant and outstanding service of our men and women, and to understand that victory had been achieved.”

“Today, we have two Vietnams, side by side, North and South, exchanging and working. We may not agree with all that North Vietnam is doing, but they are living in peace. I would look for a better human rights record for North Vietnam, but they are living side by side.”

Umm… what? Maybe she was confused. Maybe it’s just a simple mistake, maybe she was thinking about North and South Korea? But the North Koreans aren’t exactly what I’d call “living in peace.” They recently sunk a South Korean Warship “The Cheonan.” Before that they’ve bombed a South Korean airliner among other not so nice things.

But let’s get back to the congresswoman. She’s on the house Committee on Foreign Affairs. Pause to let that sink in… she’s on a HOUSE COMMITTEE that deals with foreign countries. You would think this woman would have a freaking atlas on her desk, or maybe Google Earth? Maybe she could have checked The CIA World Fact book, or Wikipedia before she decided to open her yapper.

Seriously how is this clown qualified to be on the Foreign Affairs committee? Maybe they should have some sort of test to get on house committees. Perhaps she could make it on the House Committee to get coffee? Remember folks these are the people who vote on our laws. You know like Obamacare, bailouts, taxes… those sort of things. What could possibly go wrong?

Maybe someone snuck into her office and colored on her world map? You know it’s probably a Tea Party conspiracy.
